After almost 20 years of using it, my Gameboy Color stopped working. So I had 2 options, option #1 just to buy another one. Option #2 try to fix it, and take my basic electronic skills to the next level. Well I chose option #2.
If you are into building circuits. But you don't have the budget to buy some equipment or components, I have a solution for you. Tinkercad is a free web app for 3D design, electronics, and coding.
I had to watch a few youtube videos, and I finally found what I was looking for. This video really helped me to understand how the device worked. How to diagnose the problem by using a multimeter, to understand the schematic, and the final goal was to repair it.
I had to buy a few things first. I couldn't find my 2.5mm tri-wing screwdriver, so I had to buy another one. And I thought about replacing my multi-meter too. But replacing the test leads, and a new battery solved the problem. I had to buy a new micro soldering station to reduce the chances of damaging the circuit board with a regular soldering iron.
I’m a gamer. I own a few retro gaming consoles. Of course it could be way cheaper to fix them myself. I'm not an electronic technician, but I have a basic knowledge of electronics. I will post pictures, and videos of any repairs done to Gameboy Color, and any other gaming consoles. Thank you for reading my first blog post.
